Matt Kenseth had a great start to his season last year, he won the first two races.  Things went straight downhill after that.  Kenseth missed the Chase for the Cup for the first time.  This season began and after the Daytona 500 Kenseth just felt that a change had to be made so in came Todd Parrott as crew chief for the 17 team.  Things are better, more consistent, which is what Kenseth has been known for.  Kenseth talks about the team’s progress this year on todays edition of The Race Report Update.

The 2009 season couldn’t have started any better for Matt Kenseth.  He leaves Daytona with a win in the Daytona 500 and then picks up his second victory of the season in California in the second race of the season.  Well that was the highlight of the year for Matt Kenseth.  He went on to end the season by missing the Chase for the Cup for the first time ever.  After the first race of the season, even though he had a top ten finish, Kenseth requested a change of crew chief.  Kenseth is sitting in second position in the points after four races and he talks about the start of this season on today edition of The Race Report Update.

The Daytona 500 is the biggest single event in NASCAR, it is ironic that it is the first event of each season.  The amazing thing about Daytona is the fact that it usually has no bearing on how well teams are going to run the rest of the season.  Take last year for example.  Matt Kenseth won the Daytona 500, and picked up his second win the next week, but Kenseth ended up missing the Chase for the Cup for the first time in his career.  To be a championship contender you need to be good at tracks like Auto Club Speedway.  They see this type of track more than any other every year.   Clint Bowyer talks about racing at Fontana on todays edition of The Race Report Update.
