Monday’s Race Report Update

Well the longest day is racing is over and Kurt Busch kept Chip Ganassi from getting the double.  Kurt Busch held off Jamie McMurarry in the closing laps to pick up his second win in a week at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Busch had the dominate car in the closing laps, just like the week before, in the All-Star Race.  McMurray wanted to give the boss his second win on the day, but had to settle for a second place victory.  The “bad luck” for the 48 team continued on Sunday night when Johnson spun twice and managed a 37th place finish.  Kevin Harvick remains in the points lead after the 600.  Get an update of all the racing action in Charlotte on todays edition of The Race Report Update.

Well the first night race of the season is over and Ryan Newman came out on top in the Subway Fresh Fit 600.  Newman’s crew chief decided to take two tires on a late caution and his driver was able to hold off Jeff Gordon for the win.  For the second race in a row, Jeff Gordon, lost a battle late for the win.  This time it was all his fault.  Gordon also took two tires during the last caution, came out with the lead, but spun his tires on the restart and that allowed Newman to get by him for the win.  Get a wrap-up of all the racing action from Phoenix on todays edition of The Race Report Update.

Matt Kenseth had a great start to his season last year, he won the first two races.  Things went straight downhill after that.  Kenseth missed the Chase for the Cup for the first time.  This season began and after the Daytona 500 Kenseth just felt that a change had to be made so in came Todd Parrott as crew chief for the 17 team.  Things are better, more consistent, which is what Kenseth has been known for.  Kenseth talks about the team’s progress this year on todays edition of The Race Report Update.
